SPORTS BROADCASTER
DETAILED ABOUT
Hello! My name is Doug Lattuca. I am a sports broadcaster from Dix Hills, New York on Long Island. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in December 2022.
During my four years at SU, I worked for the Syracuse Men's Club hockey team (ACHA), Syracuse Crunch (AHL), WAER-FM, WJPZ-FM, and ACC Network Extra. Additonally, I was a broadcaster for the Brewster Whitecaps (Cape Cod Baseball League) during the summer of 2022 and a voice for the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League in summer 2021.
In July 2023, I accepted my first job as the Broadcaster and Director of Communications for the 2023 Commissioner's Cup Champion Danbury Hat Tricks hockey team in the FPHL.

While calling hockey is my passion, I have announced multiple sports on television and radio, anchored news and sports talk shows, interviewed coaches and players, and voiced commercial spots and videos.

For most kids, the athletes are the stars. For me, it’s always been about the broadcasters. Not to say I didn't LOVE sports but I tended to focus more on how the announcers called the plays rather than on the actual plays themselves. I would rewind and listen to every detail of every call, loving the announcer’s passion, sophisticated sports lingo, and knowledge. And yes, I still am my friends' favorite video game announcer. In simple terms, I'm a sports broadcasting nerd and I love being one.
As a diehard New York Rangers fan, I was introduced to broadcasting by Sam Rosen - the Rangers play-by-play commentator. His liveliness and excitement drew me in and made me realize that sports broadcasting was what I wanted to pursue as a young professional. In 2014, I was fortunate enough to meet Kenny Albert - radio broadcaster for the NY Rangers. Most memorably from that experience, the Rangers were down 3-0 going into the final period but after speaking to Mr. Albert in between periods the Rangers scored five goals in the third to win the game.
Utilizing my passion for digital journalism, I developed the broadcasting program for my high school - Hills West Media - featuring a sports podcast (Colts’ Corner) which went on to win an award through the Long Island Press Association. From there, I become the voice of the Colts through West TV which performed live broadcasts of Hills West athletics.
Using my experiences from high school and the building blocks I gained early on at Syracuse, I established myself as a valuable member in multiple school-related and outside organizations/internships related to broadcasting and leadership during my time at SU.
